What is Dinosaur Adventure 3-D? Dinosaur Adventure 3-D takes the player on a journey through Paleo Island, an environment that has prehistoric animals, including dinosaurs obviously, from all three stages of the Mesozoic era (Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous). Guiding the player is a young wise-cracking parasaurolophus named Rolf, along with his friend Terrence (a humble yet friendly Pteranodon), who has a plan to dethrone the resident tyrant of Paleo Island, namely the ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex a.k.a. T-Rex. To help Rolf in his fight, the player must help him locate nine dinosaur eggs that were scattered across the island during one of the T-Rex's attacks and hatch them in an inactive volcano dubbed 'Hatching Ground'. The eggs can be found throughout all three regions and will often pop up out of nowhere while the player is exploring. Terrence will let them know where an egg is hidden but in order to properly reveal it, the player must correctly answer a question in the form of a riddle and click on the animal/plant/etc that corresponds to the area. If the question is answered incorrectly thrice, the T-Rex will show up to attack and you'll be forced to retreat to the next area. Reentering the area afterward will not guarantee the egg still being there. Just the same, if you leave the area without solving the riddle on the first or second try, it may result in the egg not being thereupon returning to said location. On the subject of the eggs, just gathering them up isn't enough to hatch them i.e. complete the game. In order to do so, 'hatching crystals' must be obtained through various mini-games found around the island. Each egg requires three crystals to work successfully, whichever order they're found in is inconsequential. The mini-games include Galloping Gallomimuses, where Rolf must flee from a stampede of the titular dinosaurs all while being pursued by the T-Rex, Predator, where Rolf navigates a forest infested with carnivorous dinosaurs (among them being the T-Rex) in order to save a baby brachiosaurus, Scrambled Eggs, where the player must match colored eggs with matching dino images thus returning them to their parents, Bone Builder, where you can reconstruct dinosaurs by putting their skeletons back together, Triassic Tarpits, where Rolf has to get across a tarpit via various platforms, some of which being unstable to save a young saurolophus, and Connect-A-Cave, where the player helps Rolf rescue his friend (a triceratops) by mapping out a cave drawing from Rolf's position to the other dino. When not actively hunting for eggs or earning crystals, the players can look around at the plants and animals that reside on Paleo Island by clicking on them. Rolf will usually give out facts about the various flora and fauna, injected with his own sense of humor, but on other occasions, clicking on a dinosaur will give the player a 15 to 30-second mini-movie about the creature. The various dino movies can be viewed in a place called the 'Crystal Theatre', located in the same volcano as the Hatching Grounds.
